Own a tree. We grow it. You share the harvest.
tr33s is for people who want a real stake in Kenyan farming but don't have the time to farm. You'll get a specific, tagged Hass avocado tree. Our farm team plants it, cares for it and sells the fruit. You can check it online and visit it whenever you like.
Farming, for people with full calendars
Busy professionals
You like the idea of land and trees but can't spend weekends on a shamba. We handle the farming; you follow your tree online.
Kenyans abroad
Keep a living link to home. Every tree has photos, GPS and check-in history you can open from anywhere.
Families and gifts
A tree for a child's birth, a graduation or a wedding. It fruits for decades and carries their name on its tag.
Companies and groups
Chamas, staff welfare groups and businesses can hold a block of trees together, with one shared register.
Kenya grows more avocados every year, and the world keeps buying
Kenya is one of Africa's largest avocado producers. Hass, the main export variety, is what we plant. Buyers at home and abroad are growing.

OECD-FAO outlook, via FruitnetEvery avocado has more than one market
Fresh Hass fruit is the main market. When export prices dip, or fruit is too small or marked for export, it can still be sold to these other users.
Fresh fruit
Export markets in Europe, the Gulf and Asia, plus supermarkets, hotels and open-air markets at home.
Avocado oil
Cooking oil and a base for cosmetics. Kenya's output roughly tripled between 2024 and 2025.
Pulp and processed food
Frozen pulp, guacamole and ready meals use fruit that doesn't need to look perfect.
Skins, seeds and prunings
Can go back into the orchard as compost and mulch, which cuts fertiliser costs.
From seedling to harvest, in six steps
- 1
Choose your tree
Pick a tree that's already planted, or reserve one at the pre-seed price before planting. Each tree has its own ID, block and row, registered in your name.
- 2
We plant and tag it
We plant before we sell. A grafted Hass seedling from a certified nursery goes into prepared ground. Its tag, GPS point and first photo go on the register.
- 3
The farm team cares for it
Watering, feeding, pruning, pest control and security, all included. You never get a separate bill for care.
- 4
It gets checked, at random
Field verifiers photograph trees with location and time stamps. A second, randomly chosen verifier rechecks a sample.
- 5
We harvest and sell
From about year three or four, fruit is picked, graded and sold to export, local and processing buyers.
- 6
You share the harvest
60% of your tree's fruit is yours. Take it as fruit or as sale proceeds. You can also pass your tree on to someone else.
Two ways to get a tree
One payment per tree, with no monthly fees afterwards. These prices are proposed and nothing is on sale until we have regulatory guidance.
A tree that's already in the ground, tagged, photographed and on the register. You can see it before you pay.
- Choose a specific tree by block and row
- Visit before you decide
- Your share of fruit starts with its first harvest
Reserve a tree before planting, for KSh 500 less. We plant and tag your tree within 90 days.
- Money held in a separate account until your tree is planted
- Full refund if it isn't planted within 90 days
- You get the tag, GPS pin and first photo on planting day
We plant 120 trees to look after 100
Young trees sometimes die, so every block carries a reserve. If an allocated tree is lost, a reserve tree of the same age takes its place, and the register moves your name to it.
Trees allocated to owners. Only these are ever offered.
Reserve trees that replace losses. Any not needed stay with the farm company.

A long-lived tree on a long lease
A well-kept grafted avocado can fruit for decades. We are planting on land held on a 30-year lease, so your tree has room to grow up.
Planting
Seedling planted, tagged, photographed and registered.
Establishing
Roots and canopy grow. Most losses happen here, which is why we keep a reserve.
First fruit
Grafted trees start bearing. The first harvests are small.
Economic crop

Full bearing
Mature harvests for the rest of the lease.
How much fruit one tree may give
Estimate| Tree age | Fruits per year | Weight | Your 60% |
|---|---|---|---|
| Years 1–2 | 0 | 0 kg | 0 |
| Year 3 | 20–50 | 4–10 kg | 12–30 fruits |
| Year 4 | 50–150 | 10–30 kg | 30–90 fruits |
| Year 5 | 150–300 | 30–60 kg | 90–180 fruits |
| Years 6–7 | 300–500 | 60–100 kg | 180–300 fruits |
| Year 8+ | 500–800 | 100–160 kg | 300–480 fruits |
Estimates for a well-managed grafted Hass tree, at about 200 g per fruit. Real harvests vary with rain, irrigation and care, and some years will be lower. For comparison, KALRO puts orchards older than five years at 80,000–100,000 fruits per hectare, which is roughly 670–830 fruits per tree at 120 trees per hectare.
One simple split, paid in fruit
We don't charge monthly fees. The farm company earns 40% of the fruit your tree produces, and that covers everything it costs to grow it.
- The 40% covers land rent, water, labour, inputs, security and harvesting.
- If costs run higher than the 40%, the farm company carries the shortfall, not you.
- In a poor season, everyone's share is smaller. We'll show you the harvest figures for every tree.
Take fruit
Collect your fruit at the farm, or have it delivered at cost.
Take proceeds
We sell your share with the rest of the harvest and pay you its sale value.
How a verifier checks a tree, on their phone
Tap through a random check, from the job arriving to the tree's record updating.
- A random check arrivesThe app picks a tree at random and sends it to a nearby verifier.
- Walk to the treeThe camera only unlocks within 50 m of the tree's GPS pin.
- Take the photoThe app stamps the photo with location and time. Gallery uploads aren't accepted.
- The photo is readThe app checks the photo for a living tree, healthy leaves and fruit, and compares it with the tree's last photo.
- Rate and commentThe verifier adds a star rating and a short note.
- The record updatesThe owner sees the new check, and a second verifier is picked at random to recheck it.

You can check that your tree is there
Every tree, including the reserve, sits on a register with its own history. Verification doesn't rely on taking our word for it.
Photo, place and time
Each check is a photo taken on the farm, with GPS and a timestamp. A check taken more than 50 m from the tree's pin is rejected.
Two verifiers, one random
A field verifier checks first. A second verifier, picked at random, rechecks a sample. If the two disagree, the tree is flagged for a visit.
Visit any time
Owners can book a farm visit and walk to their own tree. So can anyone you send.
One record, start to finish
Planting, checks, replacements, harvests and transfers all go on your tree's record.
Avocado first. Then more trees that last.
tr33s is built for long-lived trees on private land. We start with one crop, do it properly, and then add more.
Hass avocado
Our first orchard, in Laikipia. We are securing land on a 30-year lease, and planting starts once we have regulatory guidance.
More fruit trees
Other perennial fruit, such as mango and macadamia, matched to the right land and climate.
Timber trees
Fast-growing timber species on private land, with every tree on the same register up to harvest.
What can go wrong
Trees are living things, and farming carries risk. These are the main ones.
Trees can die
Drought, pests or disease can kill a tree. The reserve replaces losses, but a large loss could use it up.
Harvests vary
Weather and the age of the tree change how much fruit it gives. Some years will be thin.
Prices move
Avocado prices rise and fall with the season, exchange rates, shipping costs and export rules.
Pre-seed trees wait for planting
Land, weather or nursery supply can delay planting. If a pre-seed tree isn't planted within 90 days, you get your money back.
Nothing is guaranteed
We don't promise a fixed amount of fruit or money, or that a tree will be worth more later. The yield table is an estimate.
Frequently asked
Can I buy a tree today?
Not yet. We're asking Kenya's Capital Markets Authority how the model should be set up before we take any money. Join the list and we'll tell you when we open, and on what terms.
Where is the farm?
We are securing land in Laikipia County on a 30-year lease. We'll publish the location once the lease is signed, so owners can visit.
What's the difference between pre-seed and a planted tree?
A planted tree costs KSh 4,000 and is already in the ground when you choose it. A pre-seed tree costs KSh 3,500 and is reserved before planting. We plant it within 90 days, or refund you in full. Your money is held in a separate account until it's planted.
When will my tree give fruit?
Grafted Hass trees usually start fruiting in their third or fourth year. KALRO puts a worthwhile commercial crop at around year six, and full bearing follows. See the yield table above for estimates.
Do I pay anything after I get the tree?
No. The farm company's 40% share of the fruit covers rent and care. If its costs run higher, the company carries the difference.
What happens if my tree dies?
A reserve tree of the same age on the same acre takes its place, and your name moves to it on the register. You'll see the change on your tree's record.
Can I give or pass on my tree?
Yes. We'll record a transfer to another person, and the new owner's name goes on the tag and register.
What about tax?
If you sell your fruit or your tree, you are responsible for any tax due to KRA on that income. We'll give you a yearly statement of your harvest to help.
Be first to hear when the orchard opens
Tell us a little about yourself. We'll send updates from the farm, and the full terms before anything goes on sale. No payment is taken.
